Pléiades World Heritage (PWH)
The Pléiades archives from the constellation of two satellites launched in 2011 are gradually being made available to authorized users, including DINAMIS users.
Like Spot World Heritage (SWH), the CNES’s Pléiades World Heritage (PWH) program will give DINAMIS users access to the entire Pléiades archive acquired since 2011 (approximately 4 million references): all PWH metadata is now available in the DINAMIS Catalog.
Users (nationality constraints)
- Authorized Institutional Users (AIUs),
- French private entities for R&D or service provision needs for a public entity,
- European scientists and scientists of other nationalities in the context of cooperation or collaborative projects between a French AIU and a foreign AIU.
Access
From the DINAMIS Catalog, a specific “PWH” button allows users to display PWH references only. Access to products is provided in the form of an online calculation service operated by CNES: users specify the level of processing they want (ortho, perfect sensor, etc.) and their output product formats before submitting an online calculation request.
Once the calculation is complete, users download their customized product via an FTP link provided by the service.
Please note: the online calculation service, which is open in demo mode, allows five requests to be calculated simultaneously. If your online calculation request enters a queue, you will need to wait for the previous calculations to be completed or resubmit your calculation at a later time.
Calculated/downloaded products are not listed in the Catalog.
Please note: Pléiades Archive Requests via the DINAMIS display of the Airbus Catalog + the submission of an Archive Request Form remain open and functional.
In the event of an overload of the online calculation service, please proceed with your Archive Request from the DINAMIS Catalog by activating the “Orderable” button.
A PWH License is associated with these products, issued by CNES.
Information : contact DINAMIS.
Pleiades Neo
Access to data from Pleiades Neo optical satellites (30 cm resolution in panchromatic mode and 1.2 meters in multispectral mode) has been offered by DINAMIS since 2023. Supplies have been renewed until 2027.
Detailed information about the mission will be posted on the website shortly.
Users (subject to nationality)
- Authorized Institutional Users (AIUs),
- French private entities for R&D or service provision for a public actor,
- European scientists and other nationalities within the framework of cooperation or collaborative projects between a French AIU and a foreign AIU.
Access
In 2026, a free quota will allow users to access online services for ordering archives or Pleiades Neo programming. This service is accessible from the DINAMIS Catalog: “Orderable” button for archives, “Acquisition Request” menu for programming.
Download: Pleiades Neo products already acquired by DINAMIS users are gradually being made available through the DINAMIS Catalog as they are hosted by DINAMIS’ collaborative infrastructures.
A Pleiades Neo License, published by CNES, is associated with these products.

High-spatial-resolution component
SPOT World Heritage (SWH)

The operational mission of the five SPOT satellites—SPOT-1 to SPOT-5—came to an end in 2015 when SPOT-5, the last in the series, was deorbited. For nearly 30 years they acquired millions of high-resolution scenes (10 m to 2.5 m) from all over the globe. The French space agency CNES, the owner of these SPOT data, set up the SPOT World Heritage programme (SWH) to compile a unique database. The images this constellation of five satellites collected are every bit as meaningful today as when they were acquired, complementing more recent data from other Earth-observation satellites.
Since June 2021 you can download SPOT imagery for free from the online catalogue developed by CNES (https://regards.cnes.fr/user/swh/modules/60). To do so, simply create your account and agree to the terms of the Etalab 2.0 licence. The SWH project/CNES must be credited in all downloaded images used.
CNES has also developed the SWH-2A-Carto service to enable SWH images to be processed and aligned with Sentinel-2 Level 1C products. SWH-2A-Carto quickly converts—in one to five seconds—SWH-1A images into equivalent unrefined Level 1C SWH-2A-Carto products.
Images are resampled in a map projection at constant elevation with the simplified Level 1A geometric model, but without geocoding or a digital elevation model (DEM). They are in digital numbers (DN) and 8-bit encoded.
This offers several advantages:
- product geometry makes them readily usable
- pixels are constant size (to allow for panoramic distortion)
- processing is extremely fast (2 to 4 seconds depending on product resolution)
The one drawback is that product geolocation accuracy is the same as for Level 1A (about 500 m RMS for SPOT-1, -2 and -3, 200 m for SPOT-4 and 50 m for SPOT-5), a degree of error that basically equates to a constant displacement of the entire image and can be allowed for simply through a translation.
